If you’re looking to enjoy an underground wonderland of stalactites and stalagmites, then Luray Caverns is the place for you. It’s a great place to visit with the whole family and there are guided tours as well as an off-the-beaten path section where visitors can roam around on their own.
Go apple picking in Loudoun County.
If you like apples and family fun, Loudoun County is the place to go. The county has many apple orchards where you can pick your own apples. They are perfect for people of all ages and groups, especially if you have kids!

- James River Orchard has 5 acres worth of trees that include over 150 different varieties of heirloom and modern apple trees.
- Hooker Gap Orchard has a large variety of apples available for picking as well as cider slushies and hot cider on weekends during the season from September through October.
Go to the historic Jamestown Settlement.
Jamestown Settlement is a living history museum that commemorates the first permanent English settlement in America. It’s located in Jamestown, Virginia and was established in 1957 by The Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA).
Visitors can tour several buildings on site, including ones based on original structures from 1607, like Captain John Smith’s house or James Fort Church. You’ll also find other historical sites like a Native American village and Powhatan Indian Encampment complete with demonstrations of native crafts, cooking methods and weaponry demonstrations.
